The order in which to fit the GAS IT valves to a GAS IT Tank.

This information is only for the fitment of GAS IT supplied valves.

When fitting valves into the GAS IT the valve plate must be directly at the top of the tank  ( looking down inside the valve holes on the tank ) and not on the side as in this picture.  This is because inside the tank are solid pickup pipes which will damage any valve you install if the valve is not allowed to be down and perfectly vertical during install.

You must secure the tank very well - a ratchet strap holding it to a fixed bench or item will suffice, with the valve holes facing upward and the valve plate - where the valves fit in, being in the horizontal position.  we only use hand tools - 1 mtr long breaker bars with sockets & adjustable spanners with long bars on the end to fit the valves that have flats on the lower part near the threads to assemble all our GAS IT tanks at our own assembly area.

Do not use power tools or air impact tools as they need to be all installed using hand tools and at a slow controlled speed.

Here is an example of the Breakers bars we use

See picture below to see which valves need to be installed in what order.

1) the Manual or electronic outlet tap needs to be first.

2) The Pressure relief valve is next

3) The 80% shut off valve with the fill elbow is next

4) The level indicator is last ( making sure the rubber seal on the valve is in place first and it is tightened down across corners so the valve is equal at all 4 corners )

The important thing before fitting any valve to the tank is to firstly check the valves purchased are correct size and angle for your tank fitment.  So if you have a 200 diameter tank the fill valve and level indicator valves should have printed (as well as other number ) 200 diam - 105.  A 230 diameter tank should have 230 - 105 valves, a 300 diameter tank 300 - 105 and so forth.   If these are not correct then do not fit them until the correct size are supplied.

When you have the right valves locate the correct way up of the tank. There are a few clues to work out which is top.  On feeted tanks the feet are on the top of the tank and the words on the valve plate must be in the right way to read them to make sense if you have no feet on your tank.

DO NOT TRY TO INSTALL THE VALVES WITH THE TANK ON THE SIDE AS THIS PICTURE SHOWS. THIS PICTURE ABOVE IS TO SHOW YOU THE ORDER OF INSTALLATION ON A FULLY FINISHED TANK.

Please read and follow the manufactures instructions for the required torque setting and for correct fitment of the valve listed for each valve here in the tank assembly section of the GAS IT knowledgebase.

We find that for the installation of the 3 valves ( 1, 2 & 3 ) into the tank its self we do 5 complete turns and then the extra turn that might be needed to point the valve in the right direction as per the picture above

If you are unsure please contact GAS IT technical support before proceeding further as we can not be held responsible for any damage or incorrect functionality of the  valves when you have fitted them in the tank.

Once all valves are fitted, please carry out a leak check using air, then drain the air and then carry out a further leak check with LPG vapour - using certified Leak detection spray on all the joints you have assembled.  Do not fill with liquid LPG until you are satisfied the tank is LPG vapour tight first and then only fill using no more than 2 ltrs of Liquid LPG to allow further leak checking.  Then continue to follow the install set up instructions here on the on the GAS IT knowledgebase here
