How to fit GAS IT SKY fillpoint and accessories to a GAS IT bottle to make it a portable unit.
GAS IT portable gas bottles come pre-fitted with a remote fillpoint elbow which needs replacing with the included/ supplied SKY fillpoint and 2 dust covers/ caps ( one for the SKY fill point and one for the gas outlet tap ). It is very easy to carry out and only takes a few minutes.
Firstly you need to remove the existing fill elbow from the bottle. This elbow is used when the bottle is connected to a remove fillpoint via a fill hose.
(A)
1) Hold the main fill valve in the tank ( The lower hexagon brass part fitted in the bottle as in the above picture - Marked A stays in the bottle ) and remove the elbow by turning it anticlockwise as per the picture. ( You will not need to keep this elbow as it is not used on SKY fill points .) Make a note of how many turns are needed to remove the elbow from the valve , so you can use the same number of turns when refitting the SKY fillpoint.
When the elbow is fully removed, blow out any dirt or blue PTFE paste from the fill valve left in the bottle.
2) Apply PTFE paste or PTFE tape ( sparingly and not directly to the bottom of the threads ) on the bottom of the SKY fillpoint threads to mimic the paste applied at the factory on the fill elbow you removed.
3) Fit the SKY fill points screw in dust cap to the bottom of the SKY fillpoint before fitting so it is held in place when fitted. If you forget this instruction, you can fit the cap later.

4) Screw the SKY Fill point into the bottles fill valve using the same number of turns as you counted when removing the fill elbow, it has a tapered thread and is made of brass so will seal easily - DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN THE SKY FILLPOINT INTO THE BOTTLE FILL VALVE AS YOU CAN CRACK THE VALVE IN THE BOTTLE OR SNAP THE SKY FILLPOINT, USE NO MORE NUMBER OF TURNS THAN THE ELBOW YOU REMOVE.
5) Now screw the hexagonal gas outlet dust cap in place.
Before filling this bottle we always recommend checking the fillpoint joints and all the valves joint in the bottle for leaks using a GAS IT air point connector ( on a brand new gas bottle that has never had LPG used ) or a GAS IT LPG vapour hose fitting whilst using Dragon certified Leak Detection Spray. before filling the bottle fully with liquid we always doing one more leak check after you have introduced a small amount of liquid.
