I've filled for the first time, why has it taken more than the listing says is the capacity?
When you first fill up your GAS IT bottle or GAS IT tank for the first time you might experience they take slightly more gas than you would expect and are concerned the fill valves we have fitted that automatically shut them off are not working.
The reason most bottle and tanks take more gas on their first fill is due to a number of reasons but mainly due to the first fill not only filling the gas bottle or gas tank with liquid LPG but also the fill hose and all the fittings in the fill system ( from the fillpoint to the bottle )
Its also worth noting that as most pumps for petrol, diesel or petrol are calibrated to dispense 1 ltr at 15 degree's C so if you fill up when its cooler than 15C then you will get more gas. petrol or diesel for your money but more importantly if its warmer you physically get less gas than is actually shown on the pump display so this info plus the install being new can mean you see more LPG going in than you think you should.
the auto shut off valve in all GAS IT storage devices are controlled by the German made 80% shut off valve shuts off. This shuts the gas off by a float actually being onto of the liquid level in the tank any amount of gas in the hose, fittings. When the liquid level get to the 80% it shuts of the gas going in. If the weather is warm though when you fill up this will mean you get an indicated great amount of gas in the cylinder when in fact its perfectly fine.
All we would recommend is that if the amount dispensed is more than 3 ltrs higher than the capacity the product should take, stop filling and contact your GAS IT Equipment supplier or GAS IT technical support who can clarify pipe lengths or if you are refilling when the vehicle isn't level for example.
